■About the work
The January (Mutsuki) camellia pattern is taken from Sakai Hōitsu's Twelve Months of Flowers and Birds.
In the Chinese zodiac, January corresponds to the rat, but in Europe, where there is a history of the plague, images of rats are avoided, so the motif is a cat, which is a natural enemy of rats.
In addition, since ancient times, the combination of a cat and a butterfly has been pronounced "rutochoumyo," which sounds like "longevity" and is considered to be auspicious, so I drew a butterfly.
