This is a lacquer board painting in the Hiramaki-e style that the artist learned during a short apprenticeship to a lacquer craftsman from Kaga.
Along with the Korin wave pattern, the material is lacquer, which has a Japanese feel, so I deliberately drew a modern girl in a sailor uniform.
