■About the work Since ancient times, Yakushi Nyorai has often been placed between Nikko Bosatsu and Gakko Bosatsu as part of the "Yakushi Triad," at places such as Yakushiji Temple in Nara.
The Bodhisattva Nikko is placed on the right and the Bodhisattva Gakko on the left.
The reason for this is the "belief in the Heavenly Emperor" during the Nara and Heian periods.
In the days when Onmyodo, which placed great importance on astronomical observation, was popular, there was a belief that because the North Star was in the north of the sky and the center of the heavens, noble beings resided in the north.
Therefore, the Imperial Palace was located in the north of the capital, and in the household, the wife, who was the center of the household, was called "Kita no Mandokoro."

If we assume that the Yakushi Nyorai is located on the north side, then from the Yakushi Nyorai's point of view,
The left side is the east, where the sun rises, the yang of yin and yang, the A of A and Un, so it is the Bodhisattva Nikko, and the right side is the west, where the sun sets, the yin of yin and yang, the Un of A and Un, so it is the Bodhisattva Moonlight.

Moonlight Bodhisattva is the Un of the A-Un union, so his mouth is closed and his flower is not open.
The kimono has a moon drawn on it with tin foil (I used tin foil because silver foil would discolor).
The pattern on the uchikake is taken from the autumn/winter section of the left panel of the "Sun and Moon Landscape Screen" (Kongo-ji Temple, Osaka).
