■About the work
When I saw the gargoyles on Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, I was reminded that Japan also had shachihoko (floor poles) for fire prevention, so I decided to draw one.
The shachihoko itself was based on the one at Nagoya Castle.
The red and white overalls represent flowing water. The original canvas was created in Amsterdam.
