Tamase Sonoroku from Manga Satsukare at Soma's Old Palace (Muzan-e) / 漫画「殺彼」より玉瀬園六　相馬の古内裏 (無惨絵)　#3/20

■About the work
The six-fingered man that served as the motif is a character called "Tamase Enroku" who appears in the manga "Satsukare" that was serialized by my friend, Mr. Asahi, at Shinchosha Publishing.
I borrowed this character to create a modern version of Muzan-e. The ukiyo-e "Muzan-e," which often depicts bloody and cruel scenes, is famous for being created by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, but his teacher Utagawa Kuniyoshi also created many of them.
I quoted Utagawa Kuniyoshi's Gasha Skull and another of Kuniyoshi's works, "He looks scary but he's a really good person," and I also modeled the seal after Kuniyoshi's.
