■About the work
The motif is the rabbit, the fourth animal of the Chinese zodiac. The pattern on the kimono is a reference to the April peony design in Sakai Hōitsu's "Twelve Months of Flowers and Birds." By combining the so-called "bunny girl" concept invented by the Playboy Club in the United States in 1960 with the characteristics of Japanese ukiyo-e, it is a symbol of the mixture of past and present, East and West.
