■About the work
"Ouka" refers to the cherry blossom, and is also the name of a suicide weapon developed during World War II.
After seeing the animated film "The Wind Rises" directed by Hayao Miyazaki, which was released around the time I painted this picture, I went to Italy to do research at the Naval Aviation Museum and other places, and then painted the picture.
It is painted with an inverted gull wing, named after the prototype aircraft that Jiro Horikoshi made while he was making the Zero fighter. I painted the cherry blossoms as a symbol of not only beauty, but also sadness.
