■About the work
"Cherry Blossom Hunting and Leisure" is a common theme in early ukiyo-e prints, and the large patterns on the kimono also represent the early Edo period. The patterns on the kimono are taken from Sakai Hōitsu's Twelve Months of Flowers and Birds, with March cherry blossoms and April peonies.
The hairstyle and overall pose are taken from ukiyo-e prints by Utamaro and Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, but in order to get the angle of the umbrella bars correct, I used 3D data from CLIP STUDIO as the rough sketch.
In her left hand she holds a hairpin decorated with a peony (late Edo period), and the way she is dressed, with one sleeve removed, is a reference to Utamaro's "Nama Sui."
