■About the work
This painting was created for the cover of singer-songwriter Kobayashi Miku's best album "Ro" (released in 2018), who is famous for her concert tours around the world and songs in various anime and games. The woman's appearance was made to resemble Kobayashi Miku's, and the painting was a Jorogumo to match the worldview of the album. After seeing this painting, Kobayashi Miku wrote a song called "Jorogumo" based on her impression, and it is included in the best album "Ro". Jorogumo often appears in stories of interspecies marriage related to waterfalls in Japan, and most of them are ghost stories. However, because spiders do not build their nests in places where they are washed away by water in rivers and streams in the mountains, it is thought that Jorogumo originally had the meaning of avoiding drowning in the mountains. Looking at it broadly, it can be said to be a painting that depicts the harmony between "people, water, and nature" after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
