The motif is Mount Himeyama, on which Himeji Castle, also known as the White Heron Castle, is located, and kudzu leaves are featured from the Summer and Autumn Grasses Screen by Sakai Hoitsu, who was associated with the Sakai family, who were also the lords of Himeji Castle.The shikoro, which represents a samurai, features a design of sama (gaps through which guns are fired), which can be seen in the walls of Himeji Castle.
The chrysanthemums that form part of the headdress are also autumn plants.
