■About the work
"Kikudayu" was the childhood name of Kamo no Chomei, who is famous as the author of the Hojoki.
Butterflies are not considered to be very auspicious when used as a pattern for kimonos and other items because they fly away quickly, and so are not often used as a motif, but since ancient times, the combination of cats and butterflies has been considered auspicious when pronounced choumyou, a pun on the word for "longevity." So I drew a butterfly and added cat ears to the girl's head.
Furthermore, because "choumei" can also be read as "choumei," the kimono is covered with the chrysanthemum crest, a motif that alludes to Kamo no Chomei, in reference to his childhood name.
