■About the work
The name of the goddess "Kukurihime" is not found in the Kojiki or Nihon Shoki, which are considered the official texts of Japanese mythology, but she does appear in one place in an alternate version of the Nihon Shoki. She is said to have mediated between Izanagi and Izanami, the husband and wife goddesses who gave birth to Japan, when they divorced, and is considered a goddess of matchmaking and harmony.
The girl with the bob haircut represents a "bald" woman yet to become a courtesan or a full-fledged woman, but the large chrysanthemum blooming from her head depicts her future development as one who will have the same abilities as Kukurihime.
